Telepresence is the sense of physical presence that can be experienced when viewing a remote scene over a videolink. In CamNet an Audiovisual Headset is used to give this feeling of telepresence. This headset consists of a microphone, earphones, miniature video camera and The Private Eye head mounted display. The person at the other end of the link, ‘the expert’, sees precisely what the user of the headset is seeing and can communicate with the user verbally. In addition the expert can send drawings, diagrams, images and data to the user’s head mounted display screen
